# Bruges' Best Terraces for a Summer Drink

Bruges has a short but glorious summer. When the sun appears — usually from late May to September — the terraces fill within minutes. Here are the best spots to claim a seat.

Du Phare on Sasplein has a waterside terrace on the canal. It's a jazz bar with an eclectic crowd — locals, expats, a few in-the-know tourists. The setting sun hits the terrace perfectly around 7pm. Order a local beer and stay for the light show on the water.

The terrace at De Republiek on Sint-Jakobsstraat is hidden behind the building — a large, sheltered courtyard that feels like a secret garden. They do cocktails and light food. It's popular with younger locals.

For classic canal views, Café Terrastje on the Groenerei has a small terrace right on the water. The view includes the twin towers of the Sint-Janshuis mill. Reservations recommended in summer.

The rooftop bar at the Concertgebouw is open on performance nights and offers the best elevated view in Bruges. Check their schedule.

For something off the beaten path, Café De Windmolen near the old city gates has a garden terrace overlooking the rampart park. It's a neighbourhood café — no tourists, cheap beer, and genuinely warm service.
